Focus and Scope

New Metro is an international fully peer-reviewed and Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) compliant open access Journal that is published online. The goal of this journal is to promote a technological ecological gathering point and achievement dissemination platform for the development and application of new technologies in the international metro industry, and highlight the future development direction of intelligent network connection, green, low-carbon, environmental protection and sustainability in the subway industry.

We welcome contributions (usually up to a maximum of 12,000 words) that illustrate the unifying concepts of new metro technologies with evidence, either observational or theoretical, from any relevant field of the railway transit engineering. This Journal solicits reports, original research papers and review articles across the range of metro industry.

We are interested in:

  • Recent Developments:

This column of New Metro introduces recent developments of planning research, investment and financing, design consultation, construction and operation, and resource management of urban rails at home and abroad via short articles, so as to help the urban rail industry develop and make innovations.

  • Green Metro:

This part presents international advances, innovations and successful cases of energy conservation, environmental protection, resource conservation, emission reduction and pollution reduction during planning research, construction and operation, and resource management of urban rails.

  • Intelligent Metro:

It delivers the latest developments in the construction, operation and security of intelligent metros at home and abroad, mainly involving Internet of Things, cloud computing, big data, and artificial intelligence, in a bid to promote urban rail decision makers in holographic perception, real-time analysis, scientific decision-making and precise execution.

  • Metro Safety

It includes successful experiences and typical cases of construction quality and safety, equipment quality and safety, line safety and operation safety of urban rails.

  • Metro Management

It briefs advances, innovations and successful cases of planning management, construction management, and operation management of urban rails.

  • Metro Culture

It mirrors literature, art, history and folk customs specific to urban rail cities at home and abroad and their citizens, and helps the urban rail system to become a dynamic exhibition hall for displaying popular culture and art.

  • Metro Sketches

It sketches the urban rail system of a city or provides a news feature of a typical metro line (based on planning, construction, operation and management in China Urban Rail Transit Almanac edited by China Association of Metros).

  • Science Popularization

It explains the theories and related knowledge of planning research, design consultation, construction and operation of urban rails in easy-to-understand language, so as to popularize urban rail science and technologies.

Only original papers will be considered for peer-review and, hopefully, publication. Your submission of a manuscript indicates a tacit understanding that the paper is not actively under consideration for publication with other journals.

This journal does not apply APC for article submission and processing.
