About the Journal

Focus and Scope

Biomaterials and Polymers Horizon (e-ISSN: 2789-9705) publishes high-quality articles (Original research, Review, Short communication, Technical reports) to cover cutting-edge science, engineering, and technology about biomaterials and polymers synthesis, processing, and development. Understanding how the synthesis, composition, and molecular design of biomaterials and polymers at different length scales affect the overall properties of the system to guide the development of affordable next-generation materials for agriculture, aerospace, automotive, biomedical, energy, food, and water, for creating a sustainable economy is the overarching goal of Biomaterials and Polymers Horizon.

Representative journal scope include (but not limited to) aspects such as Antimicrobial Resistance and Virulence: Biofilms, nanomaterials; antiviral and anticancer; Biorefining, and Biomaterials: Design and development of biomaterials, bioprocesses, and bioenergy from biorenewable materials;  Polymers: Chemistry; analysis and characterisation; polymer physics and theory; polymer processing and engineering; biomacromolecules, biobased polymers and nanocomposites;  Nanoelectronic Materials: Piezoelectric, dielectric, thermoelectric and electrochromic materials for sensing, energy harvesting, and storage; Additive Manufacturing (4D/ 3D printing): Polymers, composites, hydrogels & membranes; Coatings: Smart, self-healing, superhydrophobic and self-cleaning nanocoatings; Composites: Synthesis, processing, structural and functional properties, and theoretical studies (modelling and simulation) of bio-composites, functional and self-healing  composites; Hydrogels: Synthesis, characterisation and applications in nutrient recovery, control delivery, water purification and biomedical; Membranes: Sustainable membrane for water treatment, biomedical and energy storage; Recycling: Resource recycling and waste utilisation across industries (food, paper, metal, plastic, textiles, and electronics).

The journal strongly supports work towards achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals, namely: G3 (Good health and well-being); G6 (Clean water and sanitation); G7 (Affordable and clean energy); G9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure); G12 (Responsible consumption and production); G14 (Life below water) and G15 (Life on land) and articles written to support these developments will be particularly welcomed.
